An Important Message Regarding
Mega Match Play Madness II
Industry estimates suggest that approximately 7,000 bowlers have staff contracts with bowling ball manufacturers. Those staff players represent a significant portion of the competitors who travel to scratch tournaments.
Two of the industry’s three major ball manufacturers have now prohibited their staff members from competing in Mega Match Play Madness. That decision has made it impossible to attract the depth and quality of field the event deserves.
As a result, I have made the difficult decision to cancel Mega Match Play Madness II, scheduled for September 4–6, 2026, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
This is the first event I have canceled in 35 years of promoting competitive bowling. I am deeply disappointed, especially for the bowlers, host center, and supporters who believed in what we were building.
So, what comes next? Retirement? Pickleball? Hardly.
I turned 73 last week, but I am far too young to step aside—and I have zero passion for pickleball. Instead, I am redirecting my energy toward building a stronger future for competitive bowling—one centered on execution, opportunity, and pure SKILL.
The Road Ahead
Building a major sponsorship platform
We will pursue non-endemic sponsors capable of helping transform Mega Match Play Madness into one of the most lucrative competitive opportunities in bowling.
Creating a year-round SKILL tournament pathway
We will develop a nationwide schedule of weekend SKILL tournaments through which youth can qualify for the Teen Masters Championships, and adults can earn their way into Mega Match Play Madness.
Launching short-season SKILL leagues
We will provide bowling centers with a distinctive, high-value league program designed to help bowlers improve their execution, develop their skills, and rediscover the challenge of the game.
